Terms of Service

By accessing or using CampusNest (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not use the Platform. These Terms apply to all users of the Platform, including students, boarding owners, administrators, and any other visitors. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use CampusNest. By registering an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. The Platform is intended for university students and accommodation providers in Sri Lanka. If you are under 18, you may not use the Platform or submit any personal information.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account. You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide on your profile, including your university affiliation, contact details, and listing information. CampusNest reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Boarding owners may create listings for accommodation units. Each listing must accurately represent the property, including its condition, amenities, location, and pricing. Students may browse listings and express interest in accommodations. CampusNest serves as a platform to connect students with boarding owners and does not itself lease, rent, or manage any accommodation. All rental agreements are entered into directly between students and boarding owners. CampusNest is not a party to any tenancy or rental agreement and disclaims all liability arising from such agreements.

CampusNest may charge fees for certain services, including listing fees for boarding owners. All fees are displayed before you commit to a transaction. Payments are processed through our third-party payment gateway, PayHere. By making a payment, you agree to the payment processor's terms and conditions. Fees are non-refundable except as expressly stated in our Cancellations and Refunds policy. We reserve the right to change our fee structure at any time, with reasonable notice provided to affected users.

Cancellation and refund policies for boarding listings are determined by the individual boarding owner, unless otherwise specified. Listing fees paid by boarding owners to CampusNest are generally non-refundable once a listing is published. We may, at our sole discretion, issue refunds in cases of technical errors or duplicate payments. Any disputes regarding cancellations or refunds between students and boarding owners must be resolved directly between the parties.

CampusNest allows verified users to submit reviews and ratings for boarding listings. Reviews must be honest, fair, and based on genuine personal experience. You may not submit false, misleading, or defamatory reviews. Reviews are the sole opinion of the reviewer and do not reflect the views of CampusNest. We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these Terms or our content guidelines. Reviewers must not accept compensation or incentives in exchange for writing reviews.

Users are expressly prohibited from using the Platform for any unlawful purpose, to harass or harm others, to post false or misleading information, to impersonate any person or entity, to interfere with the operation of the Platform, to engage in fraudulent activity, to circumvent payment systems, or to collect user data without consent. Boarding owners must not discriminate against students on the basis of race, religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination and legal action.

The CampusNest name, logo, design, text, graphics, software, and all other content on the Platform are the intellectual property of CampusNest unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of our content without our prior written consent. Users retain ownership of content they submit, but grant CampusNest a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display and use such content on the Platform for the purpose of operating our services.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services, including PayHere (payment processing), Google Fonts, and other service providers. CampusNest is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms and conditions. We encourage you to read the terms and privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, third parties, or CampusNest. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform will immediately cease. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to intellectual property provisions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. CampusNest does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses. We do not endorse, guarantee, or assume responsibility for any listings, user content, or third-party services available on the Platform. All boarding listings are the sole responsibility of the boarding owners who create them. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CampusNest disclaims all warranties, express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CampusNest and its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. This limitation applies whether the claim is in contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation, it shall be submitted to mediation in accordance with the Arbitration Act of Sri Lanka. Any legal actions shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on this page, unless a later effective date is specified. We will notify users of material changes through email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of CampusNest after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically for any updates.
